
Caribbean Courses
A timeline of our courses over the years, formation of our non-profit, and continued expansion throughout the Caribbean.

2024
Windward Ultrasound incorporated as a 501(c)(3). We have faculty, fellows, residents, and a PA from 4 different institutions. We traveled together to Castries to teach in the ICU at OKEU. We then branched out to teach in the outpatietn settings at St. Jude, Vieux Forte, Soufriere, Dennery, and Gros Islet polyclinics.

2025
​The consortium divides into two teams to provide didactics and hands-on instruction at OKEU in the north and St Jude in the south. Teams then return to Dennery and Soufriere polyclinics.

2022
Colleagues from Stony Brook, University of Vermont, Baylor Scott & White, and Jackson Memorial Miami met in Rodney Bay for the SLMDA conference. Teams taught didactics and hands-on at OKEU.

2023
The teams taught our first course in Dominica. Groups from Stony Brook and University of Vermont then took the ferry from Dominica to St Lucia to resume hands-on instruction at OKEU.

2019
A large team of US faculty, fellows, and residents from Stony Brook, University of Vermont, and Baylor-Scott and White Texas traveled together to present at the SLMDA Conference in Rodney Bay.
Taught hands-on instruction at St. Jude, Tapion, Victoria Hospitals.

2021
After cancelling our 2020 trip during the COVID pandemic, a smaller group of faculty, fellows and residents returned in 2021 to teach didactics and hands-on instruction at the newly opened Owen King European Union Hospital (OKEU) in Castries, St. Lucia.

2017
Our inaugural trip to St Lucia began with a group of ultrasound and international EM colleagues of faculty, fellows and residents from Stony Brook Hospital on Long Island. Dr. Lisa Charles organized our group of learners and invited us to teach our first course at Victoria Hospital.

2018
We expanded didactics and hands-on instruction from Victoria Hospital to Tapion Hospital.
